Meet Geoff Regan

First elected as the MP for Halifax West in 1993, Geoff Regan was re-elected to his eighth term in October 2019.

He is committed to promoting public engagement and has held more than 140 town hall meetings.

Geoff is currently the Chair of the House of Commons Special Committee on Canada-China Relations.

On December 3, 2015 Geoff was elected as the 36th Speaker of the House of Commons, the first from Atlantic Canada in almost a hundred years.

Geoff was Minister of Fisheries and Oceans and Regional Minister for Nova Scotia from 2003 to 2006 and served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Government House Leader from 2001 to 2003.

Before entering public life, Geoff practiced law and was an active community volunteer.

Geoff is married to the Honourable Kelly Regan, MLA, Nova Scotia’s Minister of Community Services and Status of Women. They have three grown children and live in Bedford, NS.
